MINDEN, La. Authorities say an 11-year-old Minden girl whose false claims of
rape led to a man being falsely arrested was impregnated by a teen-age boy.
Webster Parish District Attorney Schuyler Marvin says D-N-A tests show that
a 16-year-old boy who had consensual sex with the girl was the father.
The D-N-A tests were conducted on the girl's aborted fetus.
Forty-two-year-old William Hawkins of Minden spent three months in jail
before the D-N-A tests showed he was not the father.
Marvin says the girl admitted making up the story to protect the real
father.
He says the 16-year-old boy faces rape charges in juvenile court.
